Hey Plasticefx Yes, I had exactly the same problem... when the light is attached, the XL7 goes ape and boots/reboots every 2 seconds infinitely... lights flashing and speakers popping... the whole bit. Your guess about the light is on the money. It turns out that some of these lights run a little hot when the connection between the bulb and the socket is a little less than perfect. This causes the tiny wire they fished through the flex neck to become de-soldered from the little disk contact in the bulb socket. A little shifting here and there and all of a sudden the wire contacts the shell of the lamp assembly and POW... POW....POW...POW! I managed to fix mine but there was not much wire to work with and I have no confidence in the repair... it will probably fail when I need it the most... of course. Hope this helps.
