Q for the producers...

When writing a good drum break (ala drum'n'bass), do you use stereo 
or mono drum samples?  I've been noticing alot of the stuff i listen 
to might have stereo snare samples, but mono bassdrum, hihats and 
etc.  IS there a perferred method?
