I think you shouldn't get too frustrated that you can't figure everything
out, it does take time to learn a complex box like the XX-7's. I always
equate it to playing the guitar. You wouldn't expect to be Joe Satriani
after only playing for a couple of hours, so relax, you'll get there in
time. My suggestions as to learning the XX-7's a quick as possible:

- Read the manual cover to cover. For the most up to date manaul, go to
the Emu site and download revision D. You don't need to memorize
everything, just skim through try and get an overall feel for what's going
on in the box, and how everythign is organized. Once you get a feel for
the orginization, pretty much everything you want to do becomes very
intuitive.
- Read the manual again, this time focusing on certain sections, like the
effects, or the pattern sequencing. Have your XX-7 next to you, and try
out some of the examples in the book.
- Read the FAQ's you were sent whenyou joined this list one more time at
this point. A lot of the questions answered there seem to appear once
people have just started to dig into the box a bit.
- Read the manual again. Yeah, it's not the funnest reading, but I
honestly think that people who are serious about the music need to put int
he time required to REALLY learn a complex piece of gear like this. This
third reading is whenyou start paying attention to short cuts, and the the
things you don't use much. Even if you don't completely remember
everything, at least you'll hopefully remember reading something about a
particular issue you're having at later date.
- If you have any more questions, you're always welcome to post them here,
we enjoy helping!

still can't figure out how to get to the effects. i'm psyched to learn
something new and for now it beats staring at the computer screen.
