To "copy" or "sample" the riffs, Beats, and the internal arps simply connect one of the MIDI outputs on the XX7 back to the MIDI input and record normally to a pattern track. Arps are technically explained in the manual pretty well but there is not much in the way of applications. One thing that is important to understand about the Emu pattern-arps is that they are more like mini step-sequencers then classic arpeggiators. The one difference to most step-sequencer is that you can transpose the entire sequence on-the-fly polyphonically (if you play a chord you will get a parallel chord for the entire arp pattern). Another key point is how you can trigger these arps. The LATCH mode lets you play a pad or key and the arp will play from that until you play the pad/key again. Like a toggle mode. Pretty wild if you play a chord though and then some other notes to add to the fray. Hard to get back to only a few notes playing unless you have good memory. You can trigger the arps from the TRIGGER switches in such a way that the switches trigger a given arp/channel on/off. This lets you have 16 arps ready to fire at your fingertips. Lots of uses for these from classic arpeggiation effects (it does have the tried and true constant rhythm up,down, up/down, etc modes), "analog" step-sequencer effects (think Tangerine Dream), and riff-on-demand where one note/button plays a sequence of up to 32 steps and then stops. Well worth spending a day (or two) exploring. drk www.delora.com/music www.mp3.com/zdrk drk.iuma.com On 11/25/02 12:54 PM, "dfamcory" <dfamcory@...> wrote: > Quick question regarding audition riffs on mp7/xl7.
