Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

No, you would just play the notes on the MP-7 pads(or external 
controller) and set the tracks you want the P2K to play to 
external.  Set up your P2K with the patches that you want and save 
them as a multisetup.  Make sure that the tracks(on the P2K)that you 
don't want to play, are turned off or make sure that the MP-7 is not 
going to send midi data to those channels.
