Hi, Having both velocity and pressure as control sources is useful. Yes,I´ve got to play a bit with pressure to get a feeling for it. One last thought since you have the Emu 5000. I realize this is not the most inexpensive approach, but why not make up a lot of custom drum sounds on the Emu 5000 from a variety of sources using layering and what-not, resample those and then burn a FLASH card for the XX7? Yes, perhaps U wonder why I already have a 5000 sampler as a beginner, but I was frustrated learning with the 5000 Ultra, I even wasn´t possible to set a controller, terrible, so I got that XX-7 and it made it much easier, and what I learn on that I can use easily on the 5000. The main difference (except that it´s a sampler) using presets on the 5000 is the possibiliy to create multisamples as that drumkits on XX-7, besides in my opinion the 5000 sounds a bit softer than that dirty yellow bitch. There are morph-filters on the 5000 with more controls, but don´t ask me what they do... Also sample and drumloop synthese. yes, burning flash roms would be a way to keep the sampler at home, besides I will need it to save Presets on the XX-7, I see the Rom is getting full.
