Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Just want to share my experience with you...

I had been banging my head against the wall for the past several days
trying to upgrade the original operating system (OS) in my MP7.  I
could upload and download the patterns, but I kept getting a "TIMEOUT"
error when I attempted to upgrade the OS with the E-Loader (version
1.1) software.  In frustration, I called the E-MU tech support desk. 
A half-hour later the tech support representative concluded there was
problem with the MOTU Fastlane MIDI interface.  I wasn't buying into
his logic, because the E-Loader successfully upload and download the
patterns using the MOTU - the connection appeared to be working.  But,
I relunctantly went along with his experiment to by-pass the MOTU, by
hooking up a MIDI cable to the game port in the PC.  IT WORKED!!  Now
that the OS is updated I continue to use the MOTU for normal playing.
 I plan to use the MP7's USB port for passing data.
