Sysex edits the preset *directly*. There's no need to save a preset
after editing it via sysex, because what sysex edits IS the saved
preset. Any changes made via sysex will also show up in the preset
edit screen so that you can change it from the front panel as well.
In a nutshell:
Edit via Preset Edit screen - puts preset in the "scratch buffer"
which needs to be saved (hence the *)
Edit via Sysex - directly edits the preset, bypassing
the "scratch buffer", though it will
update the buffer too so you can see
those updates in the menu
Edit via EXTERNAL controllers - doesn't edit the preset at all
Edit via Front Panel Knobs - same as editing via the menu unless
quick edit is disabled, then acts like
and external controller (i.e. no edit)
