I don't know why they would have changed that. In the time that I have spent with this box in my travels, it reacts them same as my XL- 1 with the exception of the sequencer. I can assign the master arp (on)to be a pattern and have an individual preset(not necessarily an arp preset)edited for it's own arp pattern(on)and then from the main screen, toggle between the two for different patterns. My master arp setting has always been default ON and depending on the main screen setting, A:P or A:M, lets me go back and forth between the two.
