Actually, my first choice would be *free* editing software from Emu. The entire Proteus
series runs on the same engine so it would be economical use of software to have one program for
the entire line. And it would behoove Emu to provide this for their loyal customers, it would
keep the Proteus line viable for much longer as well as allowing people to have easier access to
getting deep inside the beast for serious manipulation. This ultimately means that the word of
mouth sales of Emu gear would stay strong for a long time. If potential customers get a sense of
the possible support from the manufacturer, I think they will flock to buy this gear. In this day
and age of information flowing on the Internet, the companies that don't support their products
well are going to lose significant market share. All because of word of mouth.

I don't know if the earlier models from the Proteus line (Proteus 1, 2, or 3, FX, etc) would
work with this software, because their engines are perhaps not the same as the current Proteus
series. I also don't have any idea how complicated it is to make a nice GUI, so I don't really
know how feasable this all is. If Emu started doing it, other companies would have to wake up and
start treating the end consumer nicer as well. This is a win-win situation in my thinking.
