I think 32 channels mean 16 channels for the Midi A interface and 16 channels for the Midi B interface. By looking at the back of the box you will see Midi A out and Midi B out. After reading a bit on XL-7's chapter on "assigning tracks to Midi Channels" I think you have to program a particular track to destination Midi A or Midi B or both.
