Your live set up sounds very similiar to how mine was a couple years ago when I had the mc505 as the main sequencer, and the sp808 as a phrase sampler for triggering weird stuff an vocal samples during the set. And you've come to that great decision that I think all Live PA's face, how to switch songs smoothly without interupting the flow. I too struggled with that one for a long time, in the end the mc505's megamix function was the trick, and one of the reasons so many people on this list are asking Emu to implement something similar. Just remember, there is no right way to approach this, it's really about whatever works best for you. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how other groups did it, only to discover that there is no magic formula for doing it. Everyone uses different ways of switching, from running two MPC's into a DJ mixer, to just holding down a keyboard drone while the next pattern loads. rEalm I've owned my XL-7 for about 3 months now and have been slowly sifting through all the programming possibilities for it. My final goal is to use solely (due to lack of funding) my command station and my Boss SP-303 sampler as a foundation for a Live PA setup. The main problem I've been trying to address is switching patterns smoothly, without a break in the sound at all. By the way, I'm trying to make some jungle, dn'b or breaks tracks.
