The people that have reported headphone hum problems have typically occurred after they installed a new Sound ROM and thought they could get away without screwing the two halves of the chassis fully back together. It's also possible that the cable that brings the audio from the main board to the headphone jack got partially unseated when the unit was disassembled, so you should make sure that connection is fully seated at both ends.
