If i connect a balanced connector into one of the sub-outs, and then connect
it to a balanced input in my mixer, will it just work as a normal unbalanced
signal?

Humph. I would wait till someone from emu got back to you on this. My
assumption would be that because the subouts worked as send/returns, there
wouldn't be a way for them to be balanced as well. If you put a balanced
cable in, it would try to send on one channel and receive on the other. So,
at best, you would only be using one channel of the cable.
