Ok, thanks for your help. Btw, have you seen the main page??
http://www.sweetwater.com/home.tpl
If you buy an XL-7 now, Emu will give you a free 32Mb Proteus ROM with it!!! No fair!! Is this an Emu thing, or just limited to Sweetwater???? I will be slightly unhappy if it's an Emu thing and i don't get my free ROM!

Subject: [xl7] Balanced cables

If i connect a balanced connector into one of the sub-outs, and then connect it to a balanced input in my mixer, will it just work as a normal unbalanced signal?

>>>Depends on the wiring of the cable, as long as the Tip is hot, it should work fine. MOst cables are this wayt, so it shouldn't be an issue. BTW, someone mentioned that only the main out's were balanced, are you sure about that? Because they can operate as send/returns, I'm pretty sure they're balanced too.... <<<<

(I'm just about to buy a load of cables for my xl-7 and i will get all stereo connectors if it will work ok - just because the stereo ones are only slightly more expensive than mono and i will be able to use them for other stuff later as well).

>>>Exactly. You should be fine with TRS cabl;es for your main outs, the sub outs will be up to you. Personally I think the best bang for the buck is ProCo's Excellines series (only cables I use in my studio). You can get them from www.sweetwater.com. Cheaper than Monster (which for high end studios ARE worth the money), yet almost as good. <<;<
