Perhaps there is something being lost in the conversion to mp3, but mine sounds the same way straight out of the headphone jack. Everything is crisp and bright and dynamic but thin. I would be interested to know what you did when mastering the the "proper mix" as it sounds a bit fuller. In my setup I have been using a Lexicon Vortex for things I want to "thicken up" and the internal effects for things I wish to remain thin. The vortex is not the cleanest effects unit on earth and I think it is compressing things a bit. If I run the kick and lead through it and leave the snares and pads on the internal effects it seems to give the track more drive without sacrificing too much of the dynamics I like in the xl7. Oh.. and a bassline that will pull up floorboards cant hurt either. Emu's filters are really good at that. > > >>>Here's all the info: > > 1st Place: > Song: Alpha-Bot > Artist: Charlie Malone > Gear: MC-303 > > 2nd Place: > Song: The Floating Sun > Artist: rEalm > Gear: Emu XL-7 > > 3rd Place: > Song: The Sheer > Artist: Daryl Fougnie > Gear: MC505 > > Song: High Priority > Artist: PM Lost > Gear: MC505 > > Song: The Art Of > Artist: drK > Gear: RM1x/Audity > > Song: Thumbs Up! > Artist: Ravi > Gear: MC505 > > Song: The Raven > Artist: Ravi > Gear: Rave-o-lution<<< > Cool. I got most of them. I think the xl-7 is the hardest to identify of all these grooveboxes. If I didn't know it was you it would have been hard to guess which box it was. There are a couple of these pieces that do a really good of hiding the chareteristic I can usually identify each one by. I will have to put in an entry if you do it again. --Ezra
