I just started playing out and I did not do any live sequencing. I have only proformed once with the xl7 and I would say that I would not feel comfortable dooing so with it the way it is right now. I was doing alot of tweaking and pattern switching and bar length edits but no actual wrighting. Off the top of of my head I start thinking about how the 909 is set up. There is obviously a lot more at hand when dealing with the XL7. One thing that came to mind is this. Hmmmmm how to say this so it makes sence.....Ok lets try a list of features that would be required. 1.A way to turn off the triggering of sounds from the pads when in grid mode. 2. If there was a way of saving names for the sounds in a Kit preset, even if you could only do this with a hand full of presets. 3. have a feature that shows the name of the sample assigned to the pad when you hit it. This way you could know what the sound was for shur when you where programing beats via the gid buttons. this would be an ideal way to have it act like a 909 with what is already physically present with the xl7. It wold be just like using a 909 except that you would be convined to editing the hole kit where in a 909 you are able to edit each sound on its own. I would love to see sompthing like this but i am not going to hold my breath. Honestly I think that having the ability to turn off the sound triggering when selecting the sample via the pad when in grid record mode would be enuf to do some serious live programing, it would be icing if you could actualy save what you have withought it glitching but that i don't think is fair to expect. Unless you where to implimet a " very slow save" feature that would save what you had over a period of say 30 seconds. Using any extra power that the cpu had to save withought causing the pattern to be interupted. Hmmm there is some food for thought, Hope one of the Emu folks reads this:) If ya do please respond i would love to know even if you like the idea or not. No strings.
