XL-7 hangs or crashes if received MIDI during startup

I've noticed some odd behavior on my XL-7: If I start it up while there is MIDI arriving at MIDI IN, for instance if I am playing on my master keyboard while the XL-7 is starting up (i.e. displaying 'Loading ...'), then there's a chance that the XL-7 will either crash or hang sometime later (it doesn't usually do it directly, it can take minutes or more). If I keep my MIDI patchbay turned off so nothing reaches the XL-7, it's rock steady for hours.

It's not a major problem as I just need to remember to keep the MIDI input to the XL-7 silent until it has powered up, but I'm still wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or if it is a well known bug?
