If an arpeggiator is set to latch mode, then playing a key will latch that particular key, and it will not be released until either played again, or the arpeggio mode is changed. Can be really frustrating if you accidentally played a key in latched mode and can't figure out which one it was.

Not sure that that is your problem though, but at least it's something that has vexed me from time to time.
