Re: [xl7] Using Command Station and Emulator X3 together

2015-09-09 by Adsr Multimedia

Hello Barnabás,

thanks for the answers. I'm thinking about buying an Emu PCI sound card second hand to use in my secondary desktop audio workstation. X3 would be an add-on to the card as well as some older music production software on the discs in the box sold with the card at the time. However, as little time as I have, I would really like to not bother with additional setup on the X3 soundsets. I thought the soundsets would be set up according to the hardware SIMMs, it just seemed logical to me. Sad to hear that's not the case and makes me think again about purchasing the card and stuff.
Could you tell me which soundsets you've tried? If several ones, do they need all customization? It would be a pity...

Regards,
Zsolt

Hello Zsolt,

Glad to answer this question, yes, I tried it for a week. Shame on me, but the Emulator X3 was cracked, because I couldn't find one for buy, and maybe this was the cause of periodical program termination without any message or crash. Between two termination I was able to set up the software for reaching totally controllable behavior by CS in program mode. It has exactly the same number of knobs what X3 interface has, but sadly they have different CC settings natively, so you have to set up one of them. I was really satisfied, it can be controlled same way as the CS, but software presets contains a bit different knob-assignments than other on the physical roms.

Barnabás

Hello,

I would be happy to hear about using a Command Station and Emulator X3 (PC) together.
Good and bad sides. Any pitfalls? Controls?
Are the official soundsets for the X3 to play from a CS without extensive set-up / customization?
Any other info worth mentioning is appreciated, too.

Thanks in advance,
Zsolt
