snarky?   Let me look that up.

"Snarky was popular in England for most of the 20th century but didn't come across the pond until the 1990s. It first meant irritable or cranky, but it has come to mean sarcastic and cynical, generally describing the type of humor you hear on late-night television and from teenagers.

It's thought to have derived from that snort of derision you might make when you're being, well, snarky, says The Word Detective."

Hmmmmm. (1) If that's what you meant by snarky and (2) if that's how you perceived my reply, your reply to me makes sense.  You perceived something that wasn't there.  But having taken my request for clarification in that way, your subsequent replies make sense.

In my last reply I started to write that what seemed to me to be a sarcastic and snooty tone on your part led me to believe that you misinterpreted what I wrote. I started to apologize if it seemed like I was making a personal attack, because I wasn't. I decided that was a bit presumptuous of me, so I erased what I had started to say.

Let me be clear: I had no idea what you meant by snarky.  I never use that word. (Well, never until today!!!) So I looked it up.  You can call me pedantic or perhaps scholarly or maybe even overly wordy, but snarky connotes an attitude that I didn't have when I asked you to clarify what VSE meant.

Are you British?  That might help explain the miscommunication.

Steve

PS: I would recommend the link I posted from gearslutz. It has some excellent material on the creative uses of E-Mu's virtual patchcords which are in my opinion well presented. I would consider him an expert on those kinds of things. That's why I went the distance, looked up the link, and posted it.

In the past we had discussions about patchcords and sound design here. A number of the early ones have been presented in the FAQs/Tips. Also, there used to be a Yahoo Group--IBGeek--or something like that which had discussions about tricks with the virtual patchcords.

Personally, the flexibility of the virtual patchcords is one of the most rewarding aspects of the P2K Synth Engine. But that's just me.

PPS: "I err on the side of expecting someone to have a modicum of ability to do further research on a topic by themselves and not having to be spoonfed information." Let me be clear, I understand this and many of your other statements were intended to be mocking, sarcastic, and insulting. That's fine. It's who you are.

And if that statement were true, you would not have added a comment about his having a presence on "VSE." Maybe you thought I shouldn't have provided the link to Balma's gearslutz thread because you thought I was spoonfeeding information rather than just letting the person who raised the question about the use of SLOOP to do his own research.

In case its not clear, I try to provide what I hope is helpful information for people in their quest for understanding. I don't always succeed.
