Re: LED specs or service manual

2015-04-26 by janoch23@...

I'm sorry, my rudeness was totally uncalled for, just meant to be funny, failed pretty miserably at that... Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm not looking for an LCD.

Anyway, what I'm looking for is exactly what LEDs are used in the buttons, and also what driver chips are used for the single and double color LEDs. They are tiny SOT-23 devices only marked 5DI (where the "i" looks more like 1 in roman numerals or like an "H" flipped 90 degrees) and "2CBU". Actually I'm not sure it's SOT-23, but some kind of surface mount package like that. My guess is that these are single and double switching transistors, but I can't find the specs.

If I had the schematics, I would try to figure out if there is a simple way to connect a dimming circuit to the panel LEDs.

It's not meant as spam (I am not the one selling those items), it was advice on where to get a replacement LCD. Geez, trigger finger shoots the messenger. I misread your request, but maybe others who ARE looking for an LCD replacement can use the info I provided. I noticed the pinouts on these EMU screens are 14 pins. Newer LCDs that are 2x24 commonly have 16 pins now, so pinouts may vary. A service manual would help there.

As to the LED's- any 3v to 5v LED should work fine as a replacement. You can even choose a different color. I've replaced LED's in several synths. You mostly just want to match the diameter of the LED so it fits the hole and seating arrangement, and the depth of the LED is close to the original it will be fine. And if it supports up to 3 to 5 volts, it should be a non-issue. LED's are super cheap any available even at Radio Shack (albeit limited selection and overpriced there). A Digital Micrometer is helpful to accurately measure the LED diameter and dimensions.

I too would like a copy of the service manual for the Command Stations and other EMU synths. If you can find one please share it with the group in the files section. That would likely help a lot of folks on here having any issues.
