Re: [xl7] Best - most interesting ROMs

2014-08-08 by Daniel H

rom production ended around 2004-2005. at that time emu had a clearence sale, knowing they were abandoning hardware products, and were selling roms for ~$50. i bought a holy grail rom (NIB) from a music store in vancouver for $50 at that time. now they sell on ebay for $200-300!
it is really unfortunate that the second hand market for these is so inflated. especially considering they are not that great when compared to todays standards. someone just bought an ensoniq project rom for $350 on ebay. i don't care how 'rare' it is, for 32mb of samples that is a difficult pill to swallow. i  can honestly say, being the owner of emu proteus 2000 roms, that i don't think there is anything in them that i would say is "essential" or that I could not do without. that said, i do enjoy having my p2k and xl7 maxxed out!
