Great choice - I have Protozoa instead of PROM though.

Some of them are useful, but most of them are in fact crappy.

Indeed, "rechannelize input" is the first thing to check. I just finished a re-arranging of my studio just in order to be able to make multi-channel recording (from multiple devices though) and will be exploring it this weekend (if time allows).
