RE: [xl7] New owner, a few questions

>Workflow seems pretty good..  My data wheel does skip occasionally, especially if I am scrolling fast - curious how fast/accurate it can be if encoder was replaced/ cleaned to be as new.  I could see workflow being fairly fast on editing tasks if a proper data wheel had a really quick response and accuracy - I don't really know fast of a response it has if acting 'new'

The command station encoder is switch based (as opposed to optical) so they can and do wear out. I am not sure if a new one would guarantee no skipping but it would likely make a big improvement.

I think they would work every time.

>Is there soldering involved in replacing PCBA board?

No soldering needed for the swap. The Command Station is well built and easy to work on. An important thing to keep in mind is that all of the front panel LED’s that aren’t embedded in a switch use “Light Pipes”. These are small pieces of clear plastic and are very easily lost so I would suggest opening up the CS in a laundry bucket or something like that. Ask me how I know that. J

Thanks,

Dave
