On the P2500, the Knob Hold button is below knob 13/M, just to the left of the Glide button. According to the XL-7 manual, that button is labelled Touchstrip Hold. Since the P2500 is a rack mount unit it doesn't have a touch strip. I just played around with it and here's what I can tell you: Its a latched toggle: press once, its on; press again, it's off. When its on, (from what I can see with my limited testing) it seems to disengage the 4x4 CC knob array (MidiA -> MidiP in Quick Edit Mode, etc.) from sending real-time knob changes to the current patch being played. When its on, you cannot toggle) the 4x4 knob modes (Quick Edit -> Program -> Volume -> Pan). When its off, the value of the knobs that you tweaked with it on are the values the knobs will start at. Here's a simple example: 1. Dial up a preset. I used XROM's bts:Magic Air triggered by the Audition Button. MidiA/knob 1 was at 100%. 2. Turn Knob Hold on. 3. Turn MidiA/knob 1 to 0%. As I said, there is no real time change in the sound. 4. Turn Knob Hold off. 5. Turn MidiA/knob 1 up just a little. Whatever you have set up to be controlled by MidiA/knob 1 starts at 0% and moves up just a little. In short, it seems to be a way that you can tweak the position of your 4x4 knobs to set it up for new starting points. Don't ask me for practical examples of what you can use that for. Maybe I will be inspired to try some things later on, but that's all I know for now.
