Thanks, all. I appreciate the insight. I've got a line on a 2000 and a xtreme lead. For my purposes I suppose the hardware on one is better and the Rom on the other is better. Decisions. Anyone got a Beat Garden they want to part with?

Some questions to the list -Has anyone slimmed down from the CS to a rack successfully? It seems like the Proteus 2000 or one of the rack modules offer the basics of the CS with improved portability. In my case, it would stack up nicely under the Elektron at gigs.Allowing that I'm only using two outs, can you accurately transfer a patch between the CS where it has been created to a rack module with the same ROM without giving up effects, filters or other features?
Yes.Does the rack allow the 'track-16-as-effects-master' configuration like the CS?
Yes.Does anyone know if there's a way to reverse sample playback or change the playback speed? I see start and retrigger...
No. You could do it in Morpheus & UltraProteus though.Any tricks for routing one of the knobs to effects settings like feedback and rate? I only see send amount under preset patch cords.
No. You may use Behringer BCR2000 to send respective SysEx message though.I read about knob hold mode in a review of the 2500, I think. Idea being that since there's no relative mode for the knobs, you can temporarily disable the knob, turn it where you want it and then re-enable it so that there are no jumps in the setting. Does anyone know if the CS offers such a thing?
This feature was already discussed here, but the thread quickly turned into a whislist for CS. Frankly, the P2500 manual doesn't mention this option at all (at least the revision E), could someone who actually owns this box say something about it, since for me it seems the SoS review is the only place where this option was mentioned. If it's true though, I would expect CS to mimic the behaviour of P2500.
The only thing which comes close to it, is setting Local parameter to off, turning the knob to where you think it should be, turning Local on, then moving the knob a bit to have it transmitted the new value, but that's pesky and it won't work for a massive setup change.
