Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I am thinking about buying an XL-7 and I was wondering how tweakable 
the sounds are in this box. I was looking for a "rough" dirty kinda 
synth sound. Can you get any nord or virus type sounds out of it? I 
listened to the mp3s on the emu web site and all of the tracks 
sounded pretty tame.  The drums sound good and I also like the fact 
that it can control external devices.
