I think it can be even done with any configurable MIDI controller (e.g. BCR 2000). Different buttons sending different SPPs should allow for slicing the pattern. This can be also funny while playing with BEATS mode :D

Hmmmmm. I see potential here--as you say, depending on how the CS reacts to SPP [i.e., are there any timing glitches or is timing totally fluid]. If I ever make the time to work on the arduino controller, this might be cool to test--an array of buttons to send SPP!!!
Now where was that thread about trying to make a stutter preset? How about SPP-based stutter!!! Where's my sysex manual?
