OK, so let's go...
I don't use sampler, and for the moment I rarely use CS for triggering external hardware. In our musical project there are three CSes, two with mirrored ROM set (MROM/XROM/P123/DRUM) and one with WORLD/BEAT/SONIQ/XROM. There are three persons involved into making patterns:
- one person is a bass player has a very track oriented attitude, with a lot of drones and percussive tracks, and not so tight harmonic content;
- one person is a "drummer" with a tracker past; he tends to play live with pads on top of the patterns, and his harmonic tracks are rather scarce;
- one person (me) is a "pianist"; I use CS mostly as "a box with rhythms", playing with XMiX and turning tracks on/off, and tend to put a lot of sogn structure already in the pattern.
Only since the drummer joined we have one person who's attending CS all the time, not playing anything else (or operating mixer, like our bass player). We try to sync patterns between the twin CSes to have a common base.
We only use main outputs as a stereo out - we play with many synths and our guitar player uses Roland GR-55, which is also stereo, so usually we run out of inputs really quickly (the side effect of GAS).
After my desperate attempts to use SPDIF we gave up, since you cannot sync it to anything, and running it as a clock source which drives four other devices (two MOTUs + two ADATs) usually leads to disasters, like getting a 5 seconds dropout in the middle of improvised jam.
No external effects - at least not thru the insert loop (bass player has some stuff connected to his mixing desk tho).
My wife is very tolerant, but my 2.5 years old daughter is not - and she will poke her finger in my eye if I don't wake up enthusiastically to play with her, so "late at night" means no further than 0:30 (and even this not too often). However my daughter likes CS a lot, with all those things you can touch and manipulate...
URLs will come soon :-)

Do use a sampler?
Do u use ur outs as 3 stereo or 6 mono?
Do u use ur digital out and how? Do u use internal or external effects? Or both?
Does ur gf bug u late at night to get off the damn thing?

I don't think so, and I would say it can be one of the most interesting threads, if it works.
I'm already looking for some stuff I could linked here, along with some comments. And I would also suggest to not focus on the stylistics (e.g. I'm not really a fan of house, but who cares, I'm not going to bash someone who spent the whole day on getting the right kick sound for the simplicity of his track), but rather on the use cases - someone used this to do that, both things are interesting...
Cheers,
