Steve:
I can think of a whole bunch of reasons, including:
*Unless there are hidden controls, not everything on the CS/P2500 is available via remote control.
*Sysex is kind of esoteric; remote control mode is event more so.
*In remote control mode, there is a ton of sysex data generated; so unless it is constantly being turned on and off, there is potential to clog the midi dataflow.
*To me the beauty of E-Mu's remote control is not that you can duplicate buttons externally, but that you can develop in essence scripts that can do things that are much more complex.

On the other hand, I think it would be possible to build a 4 x 4 knob + beats trigger controller for the single rack unit modules that might be useful for non-CS/P2500 owners. Not sure its worth putting in extra buttons for everything else.

That being said, it might be nice to have a tempo display for those units that you don't have to page through menus to get to. Also, it might be convenient to have a bank of 32 buttons with leds to trigger latched arps on either the 1 rack unit modules or the command stations.

Just some purely speculative thoughts.

Steve:
I have embedded remote control sysex in patterns. If anyone wants to do this, let me recommend a strategy I have used. I have placed an embedded RemoteControlOFF at 125^7 and 127^7, with RemoteControlON sandwiched in between at 126^7. I found this helps avoid accidentally turning RC on when scrolling through patterns.

Those patterns should still be in the files section.

I would be cautious about trying to create a save preset embedded. I once created a Remote Control script that would randomize a whole bank of presets. I chose not to make it available, because I was concerned that someone would run it and wipe out a whole bank of presets they hadn't backup up.

Steve:
From what others have said about the Behringer (and other controllers) you should be able to do that. I think it was in the P2K group that someone found a solution using some Kenton gear.

Hope this helps.
