I finally figured it out. This could also work for anyone else that gets some completely broken hardware buttons on a command station. I used a little app from Bome's to send midi sysex messages to the MP7. Basically putting it into remote control mode, initiating a remote press of the save/copy button, and another sysex command taking it out of remote mode. All I have to do is just open the script and hit send and I CAN NOW SAVE MY PATTERNS!!! I guess I could also use Ableton Live (along with ClyphX) and assign the sysex script to a key on a midi controller or the MP7 itself. The highest key on the keyboard or the touchstrip for instance. Here's a link to the app: http://www.bome.com/products/sendsx/downloads Here's the sysex command: F0 18 0F 00 55 40 10 F7 F0 18 0F 00 55 40 20 10 00 01 F7 F0 18 0F 00 55 40 11 F7 --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "coolout1" <coolout1@...> wrote: > > Anyone? > > I opened my MP-7 up and and tinkered around with the bad button. First I tried to re-solder the button and also soldered some wires as patch points to see if I could just the button to work. No dice...it still doesn't respond at all. I guess I could get a new front panel board from from EPR, but it costs more than what I paid for the unit. > > So far the only workaround I see is to sync the MP with a software sequencer, record patterns into it, save them as midi files and then reload them into the MP using E-loader. > > What a creativity killer. Overall it seems to be in pretty good condition except one big thing. The save/copy button doesn't respond when pressed. The LED still blinks, but it never goes into the save menu. > > > > At first I thought it was a little more loose than some of the other buttons so I popped a brand new replacement in and squirted a little calube mcl in, but that changed nothing. I then ran the panel diagnostic and it still doesn't light up when pressed like the other buttons. > > > > I have the editor up and running on my netbook, so I guess I could use that to save, but that kinda defeats the whole purpose of going back to hardware. > > > > Am I screwed? > > >
