Trying to figure this all out as well... I got an MP7 Command Station off eBay, it had a ROM in it that shows up in the display as "MROM" after you scroll past the "User" banks, which I think is from the keyboard version. The presets all sound fine, but if I use eLoader (horrible software) to put the MP7 patterns onto the box, the patterns will not play. I assume it is because my box has the "MROM" card in it instead of the genuine "MP7" card. The cards may be very similar, except there may be an extra bank on one and some presets are different. Anyway as I said, the presets all sound great, it is just the patterns that won't play. I put an "XL7" card into it. When I use eLoader to put the XL7 patterns on the box, those play just fine. I assume if my XTREME card would have displayed as "XROM" instead, then I probably would have had the same problem with patterns, since there are minor differences between "XL7" and "XROM" cards. I put a "ZR" card into it. The presets sound nice, although the GM bank is sort of wimpy, but the other 3 banks are nice. I assume there is no such thing as patterns for the ZR card. To sum up: I think you can put any Proteus2000 family card in and the presets will sound nice, but if you want the patterns, then make sure it is specifically the "XL7" or "MP7" or "PX7" cards that the patterns go with. Or if you use a card from P2500 or one of the keyboards, then you need to find the patterns specifically for that card. If I ever find the patterns that go with "MROM", then I will load them up and see if they work. Hope this helps. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "vivaknievel" <jammesluckett@...> wrote: > > Thank you! I was a bit confused, thinking that ROMs out of the rack units had to be converted in order to be used in the Command Station. I see now, that it's only when you need the extra banks. That's amazing news, to these ears. :) - J > > > > --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Mariusz P <elektrofunkenstein@> wrote: > > > > Hi Jammes, > > yes, the roms are interchangeble.
