Flash ROM really should be called flash RAM. (R)ead (O)nly (M)emory is exactly that, read only. Flash is writable, though it is persistent (meaning it doesn't get erased when you power down). The sound ROMs we ship (like B-3, or XLEAD...) are not writable. Only the Flash parts are, and the reason they're expensive is that flash fast enough to support 128 channels is very costly (unlike other flash like SmartMedia, which is only fast enough to support around 3 to 4 channels!). The plural on "This kit allows you to create your own custom 32MB sound ROMS that..." is misleading and should be singular. So, yes, when you order the flash kit, you are getting a single special writable SIMM that you can copy sounds to. -Aaron Art Gatesy wrote: > From the E-Mu web page, the 32MB Flash ROM option of the Ultra samplers > is described as "This kit allows you to create your own custom 32MB > sound ROMS that never require loading and provide you with the perfect > way to take your sounds on the road."
