The midi message sent by the Command Station is 'hard wired.' It send a specific midi message, How the Command Station itself uses that specific midi message is part of the design of the Command Station.
When you use the Command Station for a 'midi controller,' you generally have to use 'midi learn' from the program.
This means there is a procedure in the other software where you press or activate something telling the program: "get ready, I want you to link the control I press in the program with the next midi message you receive."
Each program uses midi messages in slightly different ways. You have to learn from the program how to do that. Then you have to learn
from the hardware how to send the message you want. Generally, there is a way to build a 'template' to load, so that what you teach the program is remembered the next time it is connected to that same midi hardware controller and that midi port is enabled for the track in the program or the program itself.
Sound complicated? It is and it isn't. On the one hand you are always doing the same thing from program to program and there are a limited number of midi messages that can be sent. On the other hand each program and to a lesser extent each bit of hardware uses those messages in slightly different ways.

It should be possible since its all MIDI, but is it a case of just plugging in?.
Howabout, switching instruments with Reason and the MP7.
Also I know you can step sequence on the MP7 but do the buttons do the same thing on Redrum step sequencer?
