Random note triggering bug and a possible fix.

2012-04-20 by iiniihii9

Hi, everyone... I just joined this group and have been a long time xl-7 user and I wanted to share this possible solution that has some xx7 users scratching their head...

If you don't use pads a lot and you got an external controler/keyboard that you use for playing notes, this just might work.

First, know which note triggers randomly. It's usually only one note from what I have heard from various users that have this problem. If pads are transposed in the middle and if the note that triggers is A, A3 is gonna be the one that triggers. If you transpose it up, A4 will trigger.

Second, transpose the pads on command station to highest or lowest points and leave them there. 3 up or 3 down transposition ... This way you will have most of the range to work with.

Third, place the instrument/layer just before the note that triggers. If A#6 is triggering, place the highest note of the layer at A6 or below...

Problem is that e-mu had made some faulty pad triggers and they just go off for no apparent reason depending on their transposition. If the layer is placed away from the note that triggers and the pads are transposed at the silent part, it will still trigger but it won't make any sound.

I am not sure if this bug is identical in nature for every user that has this problem, but from what I have read, it seems to be. I have tried almost every other possible way and it never worked for me until I tried this...

I hope this helps...
