This is probably not an issue for anyone anymore, and i haven't actually tested it so i can't say if it's true or not.. but if you have some issues, check this.

I have my XL-7 going into my Edirol M-16DX digital mixer using S/PDIF - perfectly clean and no hiss whatsoever. Get a good RCA cable (I got a 2-meter Hosa “digital” RCA cable (shielded) for about $10 - works great), but don’t bother with the $100 cables from Monster.Mibrilane
