Actually one of the main functions of the command stations/proteus 2500 is to handle lots of MIDI information very fast and in a intuitive way, in order to control other hardware gear, I suppose that´s the reason of their name. They are absolutely great hardware sequencers, and very useful on a live setup performance. On MULTI mode, practice controlling two synths with MIDI outputs A & B. You just have to be very organized with patterns and the assignation you give to the tracks. I normally use tracks 1-8 to send notes and CC to other synths through MIDI A, and tracks 9-16 to send MIDI data through MIDI B.

Adekoyote , I still insisting, update your O.S, because there are HUGE improvements between the first and the last O.S. Lots of functions were added on the last O.S. like the megamix mode, inputing notes with the knobs on grid recording mode, direct access to the tracks without having to use the dial wheel, startpoint change on the sequencer notes, etc etc.

I have become so dependant of the EMU´s sequencing concept, that I just can´t play live without them. Recently I adquired my third unit, having 3 command stations on a live setup, is a blast.

I knew I had overlooked something! :)

> If you want to use it as a sound module what I would do is put it in multi mode, and then send it stuff on different channels and set the patch for each channel. Make sure you have the "rechannelize" set to "off". You can find the rechannelize setting in the "MIDI" menu.

Also you want to set "MIDI mode" to "multi" and use "MIDI Enable" for
appriopriate channels - both settings in the "Master"menu. You may
want to use other parameters available there (reacting to Program
Change and Program Change mapping), but I wouldn't bother at the
beginning. Realtime controllers, mentioned by Matt, can be mapped to
"physical" MIDI CC controllers, e.g. you can set the filter cutoff and
resonance to CCs 74 & 71, which afaik is typical for Yamaha gear.

Personally I wouldn't change P2500 for P2000 - I played a bit on XK-6
and I found the ability to use the 16 buttons to access pages of
Preset menu very comfortable.
