You must be in Europe or somewhere with 220V? I noticed that when I took my command station on holiday in Europe and used just a plug adapter, it seem to run pretty hot when on 220V. 110V operation is not as hot...

I couldnt stand the heat they generate, I feared the electronics would suffer over a long period, so

I hacked a computer fan into mine, tapped the +5 v off the pwr sup

mounted on the back indented section facing down, had to drill holes in the case.

But mine never gets to the cooking level heat they seem to get to!.

thanks again! my xl7 does heat up after being on for a few hours but the most noticeable is the smell. not burnt plastic or electronics but burnt hair or an old space heater. the inside looks brand new but the outside shows it was clearly used for live performances and really used hard. ie the first two track buttons are indented and the custom paint and hand written silver marker tell me it was used for some sort of dance or techno raves or something. probably it was left on all night at these events too.

yes i will use midi ox to transfer presets, i knew there was a reason i downloaded it years ago(!) all my patterns are safely backed up already thanks in total to this group.

i'll report back once i get to setting up again after my move.
