I really want to replace my buttons as well, but with something other than what's in there now. I want button covers that are not hard plastic. Maybe a stiff rubber. I was looking around hard a couple months ago but lost steam. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "duncan" <ferrograph@...> wrote: > > >>Epr said replace the pcb and actual button.<< > > I bought a load of bits from him recently- couple of encoders, some light-pipes (you can lose them really easily if you take out the pcb with the CS the wrong way up. it needs to be face down on a soft tablecloth or similar...) & some of the pcb tact switches. my XL7 was leaping around like a crazy thing between tracks/channels & that + the busted encoder made it a pain to drive. now it's a joy again. > > but these tact switches are a real ball-ache to get off the board. you (or your tech) will have to reflow the existing solder by (counterintuitive, this bit) *adding* more solder before sucking it all out using a desoldering pump. even then, the board is at least double sided (maybe multi-layer) & puts up quite a fight. > > but it can be done, & it's worth it. > > this weekend, I have to replace an encoder in the planet earth module in my live rig. not looking forward to that.... :-/ > > duncan. >
