Aaah, I love to see all that old equipment. What I wouldn't give for a Studer tape machine.
Closest I have gotten was a Tascam BR-20 reel to reel. Which was their flagship and last reel to reel. That was a cool video. Raise your hand if have actually heard that 10cc song in your life. Yeah that's what I thought. Only 1/3rd or less. And that's one of the reasons I say this forum is weird. Something isn't right. Maybe it's all young wanna be hip hoppers.
The nerd and stale comment I made comes from the endless posts of how the Command Station is the greatest thing ever and ever and ever. And how you sleep with it night like a teddy bear. Apperantly the few that keep saying this haven't tried much stuff have they? Owning a bright yellow "Emu" sequencer machine does not give you a piece of Emu history. Not even close. A nice all in hardware sequencer these days would be an MV-8800. All your frustrations and desires that the CS is lacking is all over that box. 100% and then some. I highly recommend them.

There are a some Vox presets that come close. The first one on the XL-7 - Humana is already 80% there. Layer it and slap-on the reverb (external maybe).
Similar choir sounds on other roms - I know Pop and Vintage have decent-ish choirs, much improved by layering and tweaking.
First heard on 10cc's I'm not in love? - fascinating to see how they made it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq7oGenbp2I
By comparison we have it too easy!
Sorry if that's too nerdy forya.
