You have to record in step time first, or the grid. Then go back in real-time and tweak your knobs. First of all, is your synth or sampler even reactive to your knob tweaks on the MP-7 in the first place? Did you set up the proper values for your knobs in the CC section under Global? And do those assignments correspond to the the things you want to tweak on your external unit? These are necessary to record any kind of knob tweaks.

my relation to the mp7 is new, thats why i cant find a possibility to record ccs (made by the onboard knobs) to the internal sequencer PLUS hearing them when recording. i dont use any internal sounds, its just for sequencing external. by choosing "external" for each track i hear what i do, but choosing "sequ" i record it to the sequ but cant hear what i do...stupid..
