Thanks a million, the command station users community rocks. So, that takes care of the electronics. Now I need to hunt down proper pads/button covers and a tech that can do the work. I will report back and let you know how it's going. For button covers, I am thinking a single sheet of clear molded silicone. Or maybe a couple, one for each zone.
