Re: [xl7] Re: working with Sysex on the CC

Thanks for the response, Steve. I appreciate it. I actually have decided to nuke the idea working with two CC's.
As you said and I agree that it depends on the master and slave in the chain. Like I was saying that it depends on what sequencer is getting the return to zero
message. For instance the Emu SP1200 gets it's clock triggered from my PX-7 and it starts at 1.1 (of course). and if I stop the PX-7 anywhere in the pattern of
the PX-7 the SP will actually stop also, but it stops and begins again at 1.1, no matter what. It does it automatically. I like that.

I believe the RTZ is a function of the OS, not sysex. If I am right, no RTZ command is sent out (and therefore cannot be received).

I am not sure if you can control the second CS from the first via E-Mu's Remote Control Sysex commands. (You can read about it in the Sysex Manual.) I have never attempted it, though I have played with Remote Control. (Check archives, as I know I have written about it.)

Basically in Remote Control mode, the CS receives and transmits many knob turns and button presses as sysex commands. As I recall, not all buttons transmit sysex commands to simulate button presses (actually button ups, button downs, led states, etc.) So, I don't know if one CS can effectively control another to achieve what you want, but it might.

One of the costs to using Remode Control mode is that the Command Stations send out oodles and oodles of sysex commands. That may or may not be a problem for you.

I hope this helps.
