Re: [xl7] Re: working with Sysex on the CC

Thanks, Steve. After I sent this I noticed the same thing in the System Exclusive Specification download.
I would need like a Mackie C4 Pro or Doepfer Drehbank that supports this.

I would just wait for the custom rom thing to happen for the CC, but personally I don't feel the CC9;s synth engine has "enough teeth" for my tastes.
Especially the filters. There isn't enough bite and sometimes I wonder if I am even modulating anything. I can hear it, but it's just barely. Sounds kinda thin.
(not kinda, but really thin) Nothing like what I am used to with the other kit I have. So I am gonna skip that whole thing. But deep respect to those who are paving
the way for this option. Very cool.

I have been working with 2 Command Stations all week. Does anyone know how to get the second CC to return to zero from the first one. Double tapping the Stop button does not send a message to the second CC. On other sequencers it does work. I'm convinced though that the first CC doesn't actually send the message. I could check and see what it says with Midi Ox and a midi monitor tonight. Whatever it's saying it's not getting the second sequencer to go back to measure 1.1

I thought someone asked about this recently. In any case, you cannot6 use the CS's knobs or buttons to send out sysex data to external gear. There's other stuff you can do with sysex on E-Mu gear, but not that.

While the Command Station/P2500 sequencer can have sysex data embedded in a sequence, the E-MU OS has no sysex management. If you want to embed sysex data into a sequence, you would need a sequencer that can include sysex commands in a standard midi file. You would then need to load the midi file into the Command Station using e-loader.

I have written about this technique, and might even have some sample files. Search for embed sysex, I believe.

Hope this helps.

Steve
