you gotta use E-loader for the USB port. As you know it';s an app that Emu has available on their site for free. Originally it came with Command Station's on CD if you bought one new. The USB port is used for OS upgrades through E-loader, and for exchanging midi files back and forth. I have tried it and it does work. What's cool is that you can purchase 3rd party midi files from places like Dance Midi Files. com and have parts basically pre-programmed for you for some inspiration. Maybe a person just sucks at writing basslines. Well you get a liscense to use these midi files in your trax. They're like construction kits. Or you can save parts and patterns to E-loader via USB and back up your user patterns if you somehow fill it all up. I would think the sysex section is for exchanging data for voices. Maybe it works for Proteum? I haven't used Proteum so I don't know. But yeah the USB port is cool. I think they could have taken it further but it is what it is. I wish they would have implemented USB connectivity a little more straight forward to avoid using midi when using apps such as Ableton, etc instead of midi and the "slight" midi lag that is there. It's slight but not unusable. I think the USB port would have sped things up a bit but I don't think it works like that. It's only for OS upgrades and E-loader dumps that I am aware of.
