Anyone have more info on the random functions?

The randomize function is not in eloader, it's a menu item. (I forget
where, but I think it's different for the rack modules and command stations)
It doesn't really create new sounds, as it uses existing instruments,
but it randomizes other things like filters, LFOs and patch cords (not
sure exactly which parameters get randomized - it would be interesting
to test)
I agree, everyone has their own way of using these versatile and
powerful machines. I enjoy hearing how others do it. I have a PX-7 in my
performance rig, an XL-7 in the studio, and a couple back-ups. There are
plenty of great sounds to be found in the various ROMs. I don't buy the
argument that you need "new" sounds to make good music. I do think you
have to invest time into customizing and programming sounds and setups
to suit your style and performance techniques. I don't use the
sequencer, for me the CS is a combination sound module, control surface,
and rhythm machine. Rhythms come from random arps or arp patterns,
triggered by the front panel buttons (one for each of the 16 "B"
channels, with volume for each controlled by the "program" knobs). I use
LFOs or KeyRandom patch cords to make the rhythms sound more
human/organic (adding variation to volume, pitch, or filter). My main
controller/keyboard is a Nord Modular G2, with a custom patch that is
designed to work with command stations. It has buttons to switch between
midi channels, and to turn arps on/off and latch for the active channel.
Also knobs to control volume, envelope, filter, modulation and effects.
If anyone else is using this combination of G2 and Command Station, I
would be happy to trade notes.
