Re: [xl7] Custom Roms... - Any updates?

They are custom parts from Emu, with a big flash for sample data and a baby flash for preset data. Some of our previous discussions over the years talk about what the flash ROM is made of. You can also read the literature that comes with the flash....it also explains the 2 flash sections of the stick...

oh brother. Do what you want, Matt. But in Bob's defense I would say copying them isn't worth the expense. I don't want a copy of a turd myself.
I mean the only worthwhile solution to copy them is to find a generic version of like an OEM flash rom with the same contacts, etc. Then you run into a situation where there may be need to be formatted. Did Emu put format data on these things before they left? Or are they regular joe flash rom sticks with nothing on them and just mark them up 20 times? It's anyone's guess. It would be nice to know so we could just get past this point. I'll eventually get a 16mb and let you guys know. But not at this moment.

It makes no sense to me to "copy" them since the "originals" cost less then the proprietary flash ROMs that you would be using to put the copy on to !
Beside that, I am going to guess Emu owns the rights to the raw samples, and that would make directly copying them for redistribution illegal. This group does not and will not endorse or promote illegal activates. Read the license that came with the ROM and tell us what it says....
