Considering I do both genres, "I" wouldn't find that boring at all. But taking these rom tones and filtering and processing and sampling them and washing, rinsing and repeating the process is all the more better. All these machines including the software and the computer are just tools. You're right, they are just resources. Anyone can use whatever they want, and use them how they want to use them, and as often as they want. There aren't any rules or score keeping here. I just know what works for me and what my ears like. Long live low bit rates and real analog filters!

BTW, some people find ambient music boring; some people find techno boring. Some people deeply enjoy each of these genres. Its really a matter personal preference.
