Try changing the length of the midi pattern in your sequencer.

Actually, I was talking about >other< patterns - not the one being loaded/saved, but ones in the same sequence set. Like they share a common set up that is being erased. I'll try the 'not hitting play' trick - thanks!

Emagic Unitor mkII with serial connection.

I don't think so - it was more of a bug. I just read the FAQ and it's unrelated to what I was experiencing.
- The tracks were all pointing to one midi channel each.
- I had switched into patch mode to see what was on the other channels, since I had managed to drop my notes on the floor, and couldn't pick them up right away.
- The knobs now controlled the patch I was looking at ( I was in the middle of filter sweeping the drum kit, and found myself sweeping the lead synth instead) Ok. my mistake.
- I switch back out of patch veiw, and the knobs >still< control the lead synth.
- I switch tracks. No change, still the lead synth.
- I switch patterns, and get control back
- I look up at the crowd and pretend that, "yes, I meant to sound like crap for a while"

Unfortunately, I'm obviously a little more tense than you on stage :>
Since the XL-7 isn't the only thing I'm paying attention to, the opportunity to turn the fucker off, and discover it six seconds later is an accident waiting to happen. I also hit record frequently, but that isn't nearly as scary.
